Job Details

The Victim Assistance Section serves and assists victims of violent crimes, primarily by administering programs that directly benefit those victims. This includes assisting victims with the financial burdens resulting from their injuries, assisting local programs that serve crime victims, and assisting in holding criminal offenders responsible for the injuries they cause.

The person hired for this position will develop, plan, and execute first-class training programs for law enforcement, prosecutors, advocates, and other professionals involved with victim services and criminal justice throughout Iowa.

 

 

Requirements

The Victim Assistance Section serves and assists victims of violent crimes, primarily by administering programs that directly benefit those victims. This includes assisting victims with the financial burdens resulting from their injuries, assisting local programs that serve crime victims, and assisting in holding criminal offenders responsible for the injuries they cause. The person hired for this position will develop, plan, and execute first-class training programs for law enforcement, prosecutors, advocates, and other professionals involved with victim services and criminal justice throughout Iowa.
Responsibilities
The Training Coordinator will:
• Collaborate with other members of the Training and Outreach Team and state and national experts to develop and present research-based, victim-centered training on sexual assault, domestic violence, homicide, human trafficking, and other violent crimes;
• Support the needs of the Training and Outreach Team, by, among other things, building relationships with others in victim-services and criminal-justice field and conducting outreach to communities in need of training;
• Stay up to date on topics that touch on, or relate to, domestic violence, homicide, and other violent crimes; and
• Conduct training across Iowa.

 

Requirements and Preferences
Candidates must be victim-centered and supporting of law enforcement. In addition, they must have:
• Experience with presenting and training, with a preference for training law-enforcement and others in the legal and victim-assistance fields;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with a team;
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines; and
• The ability to tolerate prolonged periods of (1) driving and riding in a vehicle and (2) working at a computer.
This position requires a high-school diploma (bachelor's degree preferred) and at least five years of relevant experience

Salary ranges from57,636.80-87,734.40, depending on experience.
