Job Details

The PATC Division specializes in assisting and educating county attorneys with civil legal issues. The person selected for this position will consult with county attorneys and their staffs to assist with civil legal issues, conduct in-person training and continuing-education sessions, and update the criminal-law handbook. A significant part of this position is traveling around Iowa to conduct these sessions.

Requirements

A successful candidate will be passionate about public service and committed to upholding high professional standards, furnishing high-quality legal representation, and upholding the rule of law. This position requires strong research, writing, analytical, and public-speaking skills. Candidates must be admitted to practice law in Iowa. Experience as a criminal prosecutor and knowledge of conflict-of-interest and professional-ethics laws and rules is preferred. Experience as a civil practitioner in an Iowa county attorney’s office or for another governmental body is strongly preferred.
